The Hampus Grönberg Christmas Experience​

 

The Hampus Grönberg Christmas Experience is a wild, playful instrumental Christmas album built around 91 classic holiday melodies, reimagined through Swedish and Irish traditional music (with some other influences). Mandolin, tenor banjo, guitar and Irish bouzouki lead the way, backed by a wide variety of lively percussion and plenty of musical mischief.

 

The project began with a spontaneous kitchen recording during the 2020 covid pandemic, which grew into an annual series of social-media medleys—each year more ambitious than the last. Now, the full album brings together those original medleys with seven new tracks, including the bluegrass-leaning “Hej(san), Hopp(san),” the banjo-driven swing set “Swing It, Vid Misteln!,” and highlights from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker turned into Irish polkas.

 

The Hampus Grönberg Christmas Experience is a joyful, slightly chaotic and deeply warm-hearted folk exploration of the holiday season—full of strings, swing, and a big dose of Christmas cheer.
